Our Impact Is Your Impact
The FRIENDS of the Commission on the Status of Women is a member-supported, non-profit raising awareness and funds for the work of the Commission and the Department on the Status of Women. We are building an equitable future by promoting the principles of the UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), an international bill of rights for women, and advocating for the human rights of women and girls in San Francisco.

Public Policy Internship and Fellowship Program
We provide an annual grant to the Department on the Status of Women that supports three public policy fellows for a 10-month program . The program provides fellows with leadership development opportunities and meaningful work experience preparing them for their first post-graduation position. The fellows' work contributes to relevant research and advocacy that support the Department's and the Commission's efforts in providing a better future for women and girls in San Francisco. |
Equal Pay Initiative: Free Salary Negotiation Workshops for Women
We are training 20,000 women on how to solicit for fair and equitable salaries and benefits. Help us close the gender pay gap and offer FREE 2-hour salary negotiation workshops designed for women to negotiate for a new job, raise, or promotion. |
Building an Equal Future
We support the work of the San Francisco Commission and the Department on the Status of Women, the only municipal agency of its kind in the country, by advocating for stopping violence against women, eliminating human trafficking and promoting gender equity and economic empowerment for women. Help us in building an equal future so women and girls have equal opportunity and are free from violence. |
